Now in its 5th year, Random Acts of Kindness is a powerful holiday tradition that brings our community together through generosity, compassion, and partnership.
Each year, anonymous donors from Lincoln and surrounding areas give tax-deductible contributions to the Malone Center, which then donates 100% of those funds to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD). In turn, LPD officers assemble $300 cash gifts in festive envelopes, each paired with a heartfelt holiday card and a community resource pamphlet.
In groups of 3–4, officers personally deliver these surprise gifts across Lincoln — at schools, community centers, grocery stores, and neighborhoods — to residents who could use a little extra hope during the Christmas season.
Each envelope is securely tracked and double-signed by officers to ensure full accountability, while allowing the gifts to remain completely anonymous to recipients.
🎁 The impact is profound: Residents experience a positive, uplifting interaction with local police, often creating lasting memories and rebuilding trust. Officers get the rare opportunity to connect with their community outside of enforcement roles, spreading joy and goodwill in a deeply human way.
